NCFE Courses

NCFE can trace it's origins back to 1848 with the establishment of the Northern Union of Mechanics' Institutes which was intended to be a centre of learning for the North of England. After being renamed to 'Northern Counties Technical Examinations Council' in the 1920's exams were provided for colleges, schools and other centres.

By the early 1990s they were renamed as NCFE to reflect more of a national focus.

NCFE are also a registered educational charity and a company limited by guarantee with a charitable aim 'to promote and advance the education and training of young persons and adults'.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

We are proud to offer a wide variety of NCFE courses.
