NCFE Teaching Assistant
- Course Code: OCN103
- Award Level 2, Similar to - NVQ Level 2, GCSE (Grades A*-C)
This course has been developed for individuals who want to understand the skills needed to become a teaching assistant.
A teaching assistant supports a teacher with everyday work & also supports children, working one-to-one or in smaller groups. With experience, you may supervise the class if the teacher is absent for a short period.
In some schools you could have a specialism to further aid your students, such as literacy, numeracy, special educational needs or music. Bilingual teaching assistants are often employed in schools with children whose first language may not be English.
The job can often be a more personal experience than a teacher, it is a vital role in the classroom, especially with increasing classroom sizes.
This course provides 6 credits which can be accumulated with other courses or unit credits which can lead to an accredited qualification.
