A thriving community of 130,000 learners
We've hit a very exciting milestone: 130,000 Open Study College learners! Let's put that number into perspective.
- Our learners would easily fill the largest sports stadium in the world, The Narendra Modi Stadium.
- That’s how many people visit the Eiffel Tower every week.
- It's more than the attendance at Coachella Festival each year.
- That number is approximately the population size of Cheltenham, Marbella and Reykjavík.
That's a LOT of people who have chosen to invest in their learning and achieve their goals through online education, and we're honoured to have been the ones to support them.
The best thing about our 130,000 strong learner community is the diversity. We have learners from all over the globe, from 13 to 91 years old, with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and goals. We’ve cheered learners on as they have progressed onto university, changed their career, pursued a hobby, and generally invested in their future. Isn’t that amazing?
17 years of Open Study College
The business has just celebrated its 17th birthday, yet it seems like yesterday courses were being packed in the garage of the Rutter family home. A lot has happened since launch in 2007!
Our CEO and Co-founder Samantha Rutter-Bryant comments: ‘The last 17 years have been a rollercoaster of a journey, learning, laughing, growing and changing, and we’re so pleased to be in the privileged position to help people to thrive in life whilst advocating for lifelong development. Never in a million years did I think Open Study College would be what it is today when we started the business. Here’s to the next few years, and to the big twenty on the horizon!’
Open Study College’s Director and family member Shawna Baker says: ‘I was just finishing up my GCSEs when my sister and father had this vision, and I’m so proud to see how far we've come. Happy Birthday to our family business, and here's to helping more people change their lives through learning.’
Our plans for growth
2024 has been a very busy and exciting year so far filled with plans and investments for the future. Our aim is to be equipped with the best processes, adapting to changes and growth in the market. This means we can better cater for our learners' needs and provide them with the support they deserve.
We recently completed a full rebrand to showcase our values in a vibrant, clear, and contemporary way (feel free to have a nosey around our swanky new website after reading this blog). It’s important to us to regularly develop our brand with fresh concepts to inspire people to invest in their learning, and inform others that you can study on your own terms to reach your goals.
On top of this, we’ve modernised our internal systems to ensure we're using the most advanced technologies. This involved launching our new website and creating a bespoke academic platform. We released phase one of our brand new learner platform, Ohana, with further updates in the works. Keep your eyes peeled!
