Our range of beauty therapy courses

We offer a wide range of beauty therapy courses here at Open Study College which are designed to be studied from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re working, caring for family, or simply have other commitments, having a busy lifestyle doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on pursuing your goals and developing your career. That’s why our range of beauty therapy courses can be studied at your own pace when you want, where you want.

What is beauty therapy?

Beauty therapy is where a beauty therapist, someone who is a professionally trained body and face care expert, delivers a wide range of treatments. They can also decide to specialise in certain aspects of beauty therapy, like massage, waxing, or facials for example.

It is a broad spectrum as the term ‘beauty therapy’ will cover most salon treatments available, which means there is plenty of opportunity for progression into specialities.

A beauty therapist must have a thorough understanding of the lotions and waxes they are using, which allows them to have a complete understanding of the effects different treatments have on the skin and body.

Types of beauty therapy qualifications

We offer beauty therapy courses from a couple of different awarding bodies, which are: QLS, Open Study College, and Beauty Tribe.

You will have the opportunity to start from the very basics with some Level 2 courses, or if you’ve already started your beauty therapy journey, then we also offer Level 3 courses to develop your pre-existing skills.

Distance learning beauty therapy

With distance learning, you can study the same subjects and qualifications you would in a traditional college, simply from home! It takes the location out of studying. You’ll save time and money on travelling, and if you have other life commitments, such as a full-time or part-time job, or if you have a family to look after, it may help to be able to study at a time that suits you.

There are no physical classes to attend or timetables to stick to. With 24-hour access to your course either online or through a study pack, you can study whenever you have free time (if that’s in the middle of the night it’s possible).

Tutor support

When you study your beauty therapy courses with us, you’ll get unlimited, personal tutor support. Your tutor will be on hand to guide you through your course and help with any questions you may have, ensuring you are fully prepared for any examinations if needed. You’ll never be alone. This is just one of the many benefits you’ll get from enrolling with OSC.

Beauty therapy covers a lot of different treatments that you can get in a salon. Some of them are:

  • Tan application
  • Hair removal
  • Eyelash extensions
  • Eyebrow tints
  • Hot stone and oil massage
  • Facials
  • Pedicures

The level 3 courses are more advanced and are aimed at those students who have already completed the level 2 course and hold a certificate.

However, it is not a prerequisite, you can secure level 3 qualifications without holding a level 2 qualification.

According to National Careers Service, beauty therapists start out by making an average of £16,000 a year.
