What is accounting?

Accounting is all about recording, analysing, and making sense of a company’s financial data to help guide smart decision-making. Often referred to as the 'language of business', it translates numbers into key insights that tell the story of how a business is performing.

Accounting covers a wide range of areas, each with its own focus and purpose. From managing day-to-day financial transactions to ensuring regulatory compliance and providing strategic financial advice, these various branches work together to support the overall financial success and stability of a business.

Not necessarily. Many introductory courses are designed for individuals without prior experience, providing foundational knowledge and skills. However, advanced courses may require previous accounting education or experience. It's important to review the course requirements before enrolling.

Entry requirements vary depending on the course level. For foundational courses, good GCSE passes in maths and English are typically sufficient. Advanced courses may require A Levels or equivalent qualifications in related subjects. Be sure to check the specific prerequisites for each course.
