Reasons to choose a career in Aromatherapy

Has a career as an Aromatherapist ever interested you? If so, why not take a chance and study a course in Aromatherapy? This week is Aromatherapy Awareness Week, so what better time to learn more about the career? Here are our reasons to choose a career in Aromatherapy…

Firstly, what is an Aromatherapist?

Aromatherapists use infusions and natural oils to promote emotional well being and better health in their clients. The daily responsibilities of an Aromatherapist include client consultations, blending oils and applying oils using massage. You may also refer clients to a doctor when necessary.

Why should I choose a career in Aromatherapy?

Income

A career in Aromatherapy can provide a great income for doing something you love... As a self-employed, qualified Aromatherapist you can expect to charge anywhere between £25 and £70 an hour!

Flexibility

If you're self-employed you decide whether to work part-time or full-time, and fit work in with other commitments. However, it's important to offer some flexibility to accommodate your clients.

Opportunities

A qualified Aromatherapist has a few employment options to consider, including:

  • Self-employment
  • Health spas
  • Private clinics
  • Offering therapy at hospitals or hospices

An experienced Aromatherapist could offer a mobile service visiting clients in their homes, or set up their own clinic. You could also offer additional therapies, such as reflexology or massage, to boost your client base and income.

Passion

Aromatherapists are passionate about their work, and they channel that passion into improving their client’s well being. The same passion can also be used in their everyday lives, helping them to lead healthier lifestyles and carry out natural self-care.
