Extra info

Assessment

To achieve the full History A Level you will be assessed across the four units. All units will be assessed by three paper-based examinations and coursework. A more detailed breakdown of the assessments are provided below.

Please note that if you choose to add on your exams with us you will need to sit your exams in the Birmingham examination centre. This is due to the administrative arrangements for submitting coursework.

Course Duration

You will have 2 years to complete the full A Level from the date you receive your materials. You will be able to study at your own pace and in your own time without the pressure of tight deadlines. Your only deadlines are the A Level examinations.

If you add the examinations with us, they will have to be taken at a centre in either Birmingham, Bolton, Doncaster or London. We will book these for you when you feel you are ready. Additional exam centres in various locations will soon become available.

Study Method

This course enables you to study for an A Level in History by distance learning at home or at work. Your course materials will be sent by post or via email, you choose!

Full tutor support will be available via email, so help is only a click away! Your course pack will include self-assessment exercises and tutor-marked study questions, so you can monitor your progress.

Course Outcome

Once you have successfully completed the examinations you will receive the Edexcel accredited A Level in History.

Thinking of Going to University?

A Levels are assessed primarily through examinations, and in some cases, coursework and/or practicals too, which are then combined to give a final grade. If you are planning to go on to higher education, this grade can then be translated into Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) points. You will be awarded up to 56 points per A Level which can then be added together to reach the total number of UCAS points required by your chosen university.

To help you achieve the best possible grade, our courses include carefully-devised learning activities, as well as a number of tutor-marked assignments, so you get detailed feedback to help you fine-tune your technique before you take the exam. Your assignments can also help your personal tutor to provide you with a predicted grade, where this is required for your university application.
