The CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional and Digital Marketing has been designed to establish the knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to perform at a marketing assistant level position and carry out essential marketing roles within the workplace.

In this course, you will study Marketing Essentials as a mandatory unit and choose one of two optional units - Content and Channels or Marketing Insights.

This qualification specification has been developed following extensive employer-led research across a range of sectors, organisations, qualification providers, academics, and students to ensure that it meets all learners’ needs and provides a valuable and relevant educational experience.

Course content

You will study two modules in order to achieve the Level 3 Foundation certificate. One mandatory and one optional module of your choice to focus your area of study.

If you wish to complete all of the level three modules, consider studying the extended certificate.

  • Understand the purpose and function of marketing withing organisations.
  • Understand the elements of a marketing audit.
  • Understand the concept and application of the marketing mix.

  • Understand how communications channels are used in marketing.
  • Determine the best type of content to use in marketing communications.
  • Understand how to choose the most suitable channel(s) and content for a communications campaign.

  • Explain key market research methods and insights which can inform marketing decision-making.
  • Understand the key factors that influence consumer/customer behaviour.
  • Understand the customer journey and how it impacts relationships.
  • Understand how to conduct a marketing audit to inform marketing decision making.

You will have up to one year to complete this course, which will take approximately 240 hours to complete.

The course materials can either be emailed online or posted to you as a study pack depending on which you select at enrolment. You will receive your tutor support by email.

This module will be assessed via an onscreen multiple-choice test. There are 6 on-demand windows open each year for you to book on to through your MyCIM portal. The grade you achieve on the assessment will give you your overall award grade.

When studying this course, you will need to purchase your CIM membership separately, which is £65 per year for CIM Studying Membership. This will give you access to a wealth of online articles, journals, and ebooks to help you with your studies.

You will also need to pay for your assessments through CIM’s booking system located on their online membership portal. This will be paid directly to CIM when booking your assessment. Please note, additional fees will be incurred if resits are taken.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing.
