The General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) is the UK’s most widely recognised certification for the end of secondary school education. It is often the entry-level requirement to further study, such as A Levels and apprenticeships.

Our GCSE English Language course will focus on your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. You will cover topics such as grammar, creative reading and writing, viewpoints and perspectives, and exploring different writing styles.

As well as providing an excellent knowledge base in English language, the GCSE English Language course is ideal for students aspiring to achieve a career involving English such as journalism, copywriting, teaching, or editing.

You will need to take exams to achieve the official GCSE English Language qualification. You have the option of enrolling on a package course which includes your exams and means we’ll organise and book these for you on your behalf.

Extra information

To achieve a GCSE in English Language you will be assessed across all units. The examination fees can be added to the cost of this course.

There are two paper-based examinations and a spoken language assessment. A more detailed breakdown of the assessment details is provided below.

You will have one year to complete the full GCSE English Language course from the date you receive your materials. You will be able to study at your own pace and in your own time. Your only deadlines are the exams held in May/June each year, which can be booked when you are ready.

This course enables you to study for an GCSE in English Language by distance learning at home or at work. Your course materials will be sent online or by post, so receiving your materials is easy and hassle-free. Full tutor support will be available via email, so help is only a click away!

Upon successful completion of the exams and coursework, you will receive a GCSE in English Language. The awarding body is AQA.

You will need to take the official GCSE examinations in order to fully complete this course. The exam fees can be included in the cost of this course if you select the package option.

Please note: if you choose to add on your exams you will need to sit them at either the Birmingham, Coventry, Doncaster, Bolton, Wimbledon, Taunton, or St Neots (Cambridgeshire) examination centre.

If you don’t add on the exams, you will need to book these and pay for them separately.
