You must have previously completed NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
You will have up to one year to complete your course, which is plenty of time to ensure you are able to study for your course at your own pace. The approximate study time is 150-190 hours, but you can take as much or as little time as you need.
You will study for your course entirely online and receive full tutor support through email. The online portal makes learning more interactive with presentations, audio recordings, and interactive modules. You will also have access to downloadable resources and NEBOSH revision aids, as well as students and tutor forums and one-to-one contact with your tutor.
You will need to complete three online open book exams. You can find full details of what is included in these assessments below.
ED1 – written exam
This is a three-hour written exam that you will need to complete in person. Exam venues available for this assessment are based in Bolton, Hull, Coventry, London, Bristol, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen.
If you choose to add your exams to your enrolment with Open Study College, we will book and pay for your assessments for you. If you do not add the exams option to your enrolment, you will be responsible for booking and paying for your assessments if you wish to achieve the qualification.
You will be able to take the exam in either January or July.
NDEM2 – written project
You will need to complete a workplace-based project with consideration to environmental regulations. The length of your completed project will be 8,000 words.
This can be done in February, May, August, or November.
Once you have successfully completed the assessments involved in this course, you will receive your NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management.
This NEBOSH qualification is delivered in association with SHEilds, NEBOSH centre 548.

NEBOSH courses are an alternative to NCRQ courses. NEBOSH diplomas require around 470 hours of study, similar to what NCRQ previously offered. Whilst NCRQ courses used to be more competency-based, a NEBOSH course is more knowledge-based. They do, however, include the same knowledge outcomes and are industry-recognised courses.
