Course overview
- This course is perfect for those who wish to develop a sound foundation of counselling theory knowledge.
- Students will study key aspects and competencies required for counselling, as well as studying the nature of professional counselling relationships.
- You will also have the opportunity to explore a range of theoretical approaches to counselling, which is ideal if you require a broad overview before pursuing a specialist field of counselling, such as psychotherapy.
What is counselling?
Counselling can take all sorts of different forms, depending on the persons needs and what type of therapy may be suitable. Most therapy will be planned and occur in regular sessions.
People can see a counsellor on their own, but they can also see them with family, partners, or with a group of people with a similar issue. During the session, the counsellor may run through specific exercises to help with the problem, or they may just make the person(s) talk more generally how they’re feeling.
The therapist will be impartial but they will also be understanding. They will give options and information on what things may help the problem, but they won’t tell them what they should think or do.
During this Counselling QLS Level 3 course, you will explore the key aspects of counselling, the main theoretical approaches, dealing with clients in crisis, and much more.
All course materials will be delivered to you by post or via email, so it couldn’t be easier. Our experienced and friendly tutors will help you every step of the way by email.
This course is approved by the ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists), at the end of this course students will be able to join and become a member of the ACCPH. The ACCPH is an independent self-regulated professional body for counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists.
