Course overview

  • Gain a solid introduction to counselling and understand the skills you will need to become a successful counsellor.
  • Study key counselling theories such as transactional analysis and the personality compass.
  • Learn more about the key drivers of a person’s character and how life events can impact this.
  • Understand how to put your counselling knowledge in to practice.

What is counselling?

Counselling can take all sorts of different forms, depending on the persons needs and what type of therapy may be suitable. Most therapy will be planned and occur in regular sessions.

People can see a counsellor on their own, but they can also see them with family, partners, or with a group of people with a similar issue. During the session, the counsellor may run through specific exercises to help with the problem, or they may just make the person(s) talk more generally how they’re feeling.

The therapist will be impartial but they will also be understanding. They will give options and information on what things may help the problem, but they won’t tell them what they should think or do.

Our Introduction to Counselling course teaches you how to explore clients’ feelings, understand their situations and make positive changes to their lives. This course is the perfect introduction to your study of counselling.

All course materials will be delivered to you by post or via email, so it couldn’t be easier. Our experienced and friendly tutors will help you every step of the way by email.
